Matt is the 2022 recipient of the prestigious George A. Pindar Award.

He was born in Atlanta, GA and grew up in Decatur, Georgia and was educated in the public schools of DeKalb County.  He currently resides in Cartersville, Georgia but he works in Buckhead.  He went to the University of Georgia for undergraduate and law school.  Undergraduate, he was Phi Beta Kappa in political science magna cum laude and was Phi Kappa Phi and Omicron Delta Kappa.  While in law school, he was Executive Editor of the Georgia Journal of International and Comparative Law which published his Note which was an extensive review of Presidential Powers under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act.  His law school Note is still being cited in law review articles to this day over thirty years later.

He’s a Member of the Georgia, Minnesota and Montana Bars (where he’s a member of the Water Law section).

He taught real estate law in the paralegal program at Kennesaw State for 26 years.

He served as the Chair of the Litigation Committee of the Executive Committee of the Real Property Law Section in Georgia for four years.  He has been a frequent contributor of articles for the Real Property Law Section newsletter.  Since 2013 until very recently, every single edition of the newsletter contained at least one of his articles.

He practices in all areas of commercial finance and secured lending. 

James J. Brown (Jim) was named National Director of  Business Development for NV5/Bock & Clark in April 2017.  

Jim has been with the company since 1983 in all aspects of  the survey business.  Prior to his current position, he served as Director of Bock & Clark’s National Surveyors Network for  fifteen years overseeing, managing and developing the staff  and Project Teams. He has been involved with the National  Network since 1994 and has managed hundreds of projects  and coordinated and reviewed thousands of surveys.  Jim  started his career at Bock & Clark as a field technician, drafter and then manager of their Mortgage Location Services  Division. He was instrumental in opening three branch offices in Ohio and developing additional offices in other states.

He has spent the last several years working on business development with Bock & Clark’s sales  and marketing division and strategizing business plans. Jim offers presentations on ALTA/NSPS  Land Title Surveys and Survey Review to hundreds of Law Firms, Bar Associations, CLE  Providers, Corporations and Law Schools across the country every year and has co-authored the last several versions of Bock & Clark’s Handbook for ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys.

 

Jim’s practical surveying experience began while attending college in the late 1970’s when he  began working for the Portage County Engineer’s Office in Ohio.  He was a draftsman in the  county map department reviewing land surveyor’s work and legal descriptions for recording and drawing plot plans. He was promoted to the position of supervisor and Assistant Tax Map  Draftsman to the County Engineer, Leroy Satrom, P.E., P.S.

    

Jim is a native Ohioan and holds a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Kent State University.

Bock & Clark was acquired by the publicly traded company NV5 Global in April 2018 and is a national commercial real estate due diligence provider specializing in ALTA Surveys, Zoning  Reports, Phase I and Phase II ESAs and Property Condition Assessments.

Missy Robinson is an Agency Account Executive with Chicago Title and Commonwealth Land Title Insurance Companies. Missy graduated from Kennesaw State University with a B.B.A in Management and received her J.D. from Mercer University Walter F. George School of Law in 2005.  Missy was formerly the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for TitleWave, a division of Fidelity National Financial, in Ga and SC.  Before joining TitleWave in 2014, Missy was a Chicago Title agent in private practice for 10 years focusing on residential and commercial closings.  During her time in private practice, Missy served as an Executive Committee Member of the Real Property Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia for 6 years.  During her time on the Executive Committee, she spoke at multiple ICLE seminars, was the chair of the spring residential seminar and served as the chair of the Real Estate Pro Bono Committee.  She was the recipient of the Marshall Tuttle Award by the Military and Veterans Law Section in 2017 for her pro bono work with the State Bar’s Military Legal Assistance Program.  

Joshua Williams is an AVP and Agency Account Manager with Chicago Title Insurance Company (CTIC) and Commonwealth Land Title Insurance Company (CLTIC). Joshua graduated from The University of Georgia with a B.B.A in Business Administration. He began his career in the title industry as a Staff Auditor at American Pioneer Title Insurance Company (APTIC) in 2002.  He was promoted to Agency Representative for the Southeast and continued in that position until APTIC was purchased by FNF.  He then became a founding member of Escrow PROS, LLC in 2005, which specialized in the completion of three-way escrow reconciliations of IOLTA accounts for closing attorneys and settlement services companies (SSC’s) across the country.  In 2012, he founded Escrow Accounting Solutions, Inc. (EAS), providing escrow reconciliation services to closing attorneys and SSC’s.  He has reviewed, reconciled, and cleaned up IOLTA accounts thousands of times over the years in all industry software packages and trained many others to do so as well.  Joshua sold EAS to FNF in 2017 and accepted his current Agency position with CTIC and CLTIC.
